pokemon ruby and sapphire on nintendo 3ds
The Pokemon world was turned upside down recently with the announcement of Pokemon X and Y. Not because Nintendo announced new main entry titles (everyone knows they will continue to be released), but because of the drastic new directions that Game Freak has taken the new games. Like I predicted in my last “Cakenalysis: 6th Generation Cogitation”; the new games are in full 3D. I didn’t think it would be cel shaded, but I didn’t think it necessary wouldn’t be either.

As expected, the games that were announced were not Pokemon Ruby and Sapphire Remakes. But, I think there’s a good chance that we’ll be seeing those two games on the 3DS. We can be pretty certain that those games will use the same engine from Pokemon X and Y. If that’s true (let’s assume it is), then Pokemon Ruby and Sapphire are going to be in full on, spectacular, 3D. Game Freak has made a habit of remaking past generations in between new entry titles. And, they have always added the current generation’s coat of paint to them with some new features. They still feel like the classic versions, but Pokemon Ruby and Sapphire on Nintendo 3DS are going to be way different.

I’ve seen a few bloggers speculating that the next remakes will be Diamond and Pearl, but where’s the logic in that? I understand that they haven’t released two GENs on the same console since GEN I and II, but they haven’t broken the pattern with their remakes yet (yes, Game Boy and Game Boy Color are the same console). 4th and 5th GEN were on Nintendo DS.

So get ready for Hoenn in 3D! These are probably going to be the coolest remakes so far because we’ll be able to see one of the past regions with all 3 dimensions rendered. In some ways it will feel like a whole new experience. But, I think there will be enough nostalgia to remind us of the old days too. Just to get everybody’ salivary glands churning, I’ll sprinkle some 3D renderings of Groundon and Kyogre in the post.

Now, we don’t know all of the new features that are going to be in Pokemon X and Y. But, there good reasons to believe that there will be new online features (due to a recent Press Release). I’m pretty sure that most, if not all, of those features will be in the Pokemon Ruby and Sapphire remakes on Nintendo 3DS as well.

I know that all of this is pure speculation, but it does seem very plausible with the history of Pokemon titles in the past. So this isn’t actually an analysis, but more of a theory. I’m still filing this under Cakenalysis though, because I think it’s a worthy speculative piece. I’m curious to know what others are speculating about for future remakes too, so please share your opinions in the comment section below.

Sorry about that, but at least this could be a good learning experenience. "Conjecture" means: An opinion or conclusion formed on the basis of incomplete information.
I had an idea while looking at this someone somewhere should use this idea to make the most epic game ever in existence at least to do with pokemon so I shall explain the 3D images gave me an idea an ENTIRE pokemon univers online 3D full color hdmi you would be able to be either a trainer or pokemon as a trainer its basically like all the pokemon games but you have a choice of starting region like say you want to start in Johto you start in Johto. As a pokemon you level your charcter on your own and well be a pokemon. The world would be in stunning Hdmi 3D display and would simply make pokemon more real than ever before and what about legendaries you wonder? Well to become a legendary you must first defeat a legendary. Its really very simple to work out how this game would work. Well not the scripting the scripting would be horrible just horrible but worth it.
if these become real can you please say the date it comes out?

HeartGold and SoulSiver didn't come out until two or three years after D/P/Pt, so don't expect them any time soon.
Love those 3D renders. Also love the Creeper in the background! I got a nice smile from it. Though if I were not 2 feet away I'd be screaming for my life :P

I loved Sapphire and would love to see a remake in the future. I think they did really good with the HeartGold SoulSilver remakes. I won't lose hope for these but I'm okay if they do or don't come out using the 3D engine, I personally think they would have planned for that, that's just me though. Only because it would require fans to purchase the new 3Ds console and to get more 3D games in circulation, especially one so anticipated. I think the 3DS is worth the expense. I'm planning on getting the XL but I'm waiting for Midnight purple. I don't want to buy the Red and regret it when the purple comes out.
Awwwww that's the region with the best landscape and gym leader's!

First off, I am a Pokemon Emerald fan. I have been waiting for a hoenn region remake since black and white 1 came out. And i have been waiting and it hasnt come in soon to be three sets of games, and have thought why havent they come out yet? I think there making these games because they are stalling. Something isnt working the way they want it or they are still making it and are buying themselves time
pkmnmaster
IT'S POSSABLE THAT THIS WOULD HAPPEN CAUSE THE PKMN GAMES IN HOENN WERE ONLY ON GAMEBOY AND I DON'T HAVE A GAMEBOY

Don't you know Pokemon X and Y are coming? I know this was a long time ago but they are probably going to stall for a while maybe 3 years before they come out.
PokeGS7
it will be cool if they make a pokemon game with at least 3 different regions like hoen, sino and kanto or something like that, like they did with HG and SS if they made them with 2 maps they can also make new version but with at least 4 maps(regions)
Hoenn FTW!!!
I think you're right about a ruby/sapphire remake on 3DS. However, I think they'll wait to examine the success of X and Y before using the graphic engine they used in Gen 6, with how different it is, I think it's still a 50/50 chance to sink or swim with it. It can attract a lot of new players, but at the same time the more "die hard" fans of the classic games will be turned off from the new look of the games.

That's... an amazingly accurate observation, Ilitsa.

That is LITERALLY what I was thinking. I'm one of the die hard fans. Sorry guys.

I wish they'd, like, add Gen VI mechanics but have Gen V graphics.

As a die-hard fan, I have no idea what you guys are talking about. I've wanted a full-fledged Pokemon game in 3D ever since Pokemon Stadium. Not that I dislike the sprite-based approach, but there's nothing about 3D that would turn me off either. It's better than the wannabe-3D battles in Gen V with the hideously pixelated sprite scaling, at the very least.
I soo want this to be real!! Pokemon ruby and sapphire were my first pokemon games :)
I want.

I've thought of this before as well.  I definitely think this would be great, although it does have some small obstacles like figuring out how to handle the leveling (because that's a LOT of content to give expereience and you have to adjust for different areas).  Game Freak probably wouldn't want to make all the pokemon available in one game though or have a huge data size, so if they ever did it, they would probably cut down a lot of the intergym content.  That being said, I'd definitely pay extra for a game like that.
